How to train a Maine Coon to come home
Hi, this is my first post on this Blog. Today, we're going to learn how to train a Maine Coon cat to go home when it should. Let's get started!
Material:
-Cat's favorite treat
-Clicker (Optional for some cats. But always recommended.)
-Time!
Getting Started:
First of all, you need to choose a sound for your cat to take as his/her "name". You can use the sound of the pack of treats or just a word that is easy to remember. Then, each time you give the cat treats, use the sound you chose. When you repeat it over and over, the cat should understand the sound as the name of the treats. When your cat is outside and you want it to go home, Use the sound for the cat to hear it. She/He will then understand that She/He will get the treats. Be sure to give the cat treats and click with the clicker when te cat gets home. If you repeat it over and over, The cat will get home faster. It's harder than it looks like. It is harder to learn an old cat tricks so a kitten will be easier to train.
